Ok
first the bad news. After months of waiting around in Scottish courtrooms
surrounded by a clutch of now wealthy lawyers, I have been informed
by the Royal Peerage Tribunal that my claim for the
Person family estate at Mull of Loch Glen
Iris, including the hereditary title of Baroness,
has been denied.

Seems I got shafted by the Chinese
government. They're still miffed by the Chinese
release of Ross's 'One Person Queue'
album and so they cut a deal with the Scots. I got deported and
Scotland got caber throwing added to the Bejing Olympics.
Oh yes .. and the good news?
I'm in Kansas .... |

Ross
Ryan Tour 2005 update |
|
| |
Meanwhile back in the other Oz, Ross
has been maintaining his grueling live performance schedule with a
solo tour of Western Australia, Victorian
and NSW dates with Doug Ashdown
plus, in pursuit of a live album, ongoing band gigs in Melbourne.
|
|
| |
Then,
just to keep things interesting; in the middle of all this - Ross
inconveniently came down with pneumonia, thus forcing the cancellation
of a second month-long season of RR & Friends
at Hardimans in Melbourne. Anyway
- he's better now and Tour 2005 marches on - finishing
up October 8th.
Ross then returns to his Pacific headquarters
in Fongafale where he will be hosting the breakfast
show on local radio station FONG-FM.

Doug
Ashdown & Ross Ryan
NSW Tour Aug 18-25 |
|
They were there about this time
last year and now they're coming back for another lightning raid
of the New South Welsh. The Doug & Ross
Show kicks off at the Brass Monkey in
Cronulla on August 18 and sweeps through Bulli, Hall, Katoomba,
Milton and the Basement in Sydney. |
| |
(They also
have a couple of Victorian dates in September in
Williamstown and Foster.) As you
can imagine, touring on this scale is a stressful, difficult and risky
undertaking. Thus, our advice is that you make the effort and catch
this once in a lifetime (admittedly it's twice now)
opportunity to see these two guys share the same stage.Who knows what
stress, difficulty and risk the future may hold?

Ross
Ryan & Friends - Live album update |
|
| |
Ross's game plan was to gather a few
musical pals together in his kitchen, play some music
and work up some material for a live album. (See
April-May
Newsletter)So rehearsals began and by all reports they were
wonderful. Great fun and music. On the other hand sadly, the subsequent
May gigs at Hardimans were plagued by staging and
sound problems that made things occasionally less than enjoyable.

Ironically from an audience point
of view, the four Fridays were most successful with lots of punters
and folks dancing on bars and having a great
time. Which just goes to show you.Due to Ross's afore mentioned
bout of ill health, the second Hardimans season, slated for July,
had to be cancelled kind of leaving the project now temporarily
in stasis until Ross's touring duties conclude and the gang can
regroup in the kitchen. Stay tuned.

Kansas birthplace
to host Ross Ryan Library
|
|
| |
As well as being Kansas'
first city, Fort Leavenworth is also where Ross was
born. And even though his music is not well known in the US and he
was last in Kansas in 1959, in Leavenworth, Ross Ryan is looked upon
as one of the cities most famous and favourite sons. |
|
|
|
| |

|
For
some time now there has been talk of establishing, in Ross's
'birth-city', a library to house the vast RR
archives - a collection that spans five decades and each obscure era
of Ryan's career. In late June of this year, following a generous
donation from the Friends of Leavenworth Penitentiary Committee
for the Arts and an expression of interest from sister city
Wagga Wagga, I began work on Stage 1
of this project. |
|
|
In coming weeks I'll be bringing you
more details of what Coathanger hopes will become
not only a Mecca for Ross Ryan fans around the world
but also one of Leavenworth's most popular and
tasteful, family tourist attractions. |
Artist's impression of proposed library. |
| |
|
To be honest, I'm pretty disappointed
about the Baroness thing falling through. Bloody Scots! Damn! I'd
ordered the crest and everything. Phooey!! However, I've had setbacks
before and I'm truly enervated by the incredible challenge of setting
up this library in Kansas as quickly as humanly possible, and then
getting the hell out of here.In the meantime, architects and archivists
are awaiting. |
|
| |
Have a safe journey.
Cheers
