Ross Ryan - Coathanger
Verbose Newsletter
November 2007 |

With
Ross's career and a jaw-dropping amount of
money at stake; and despite warm-mongering cynics;
Coathanger's Eco-ambassador commits Glen Iris
to non-global weather change and learns that
to care is human - but to flaunt it, divine. |

Glen Iris signs Kyoto Protocol

Isn't it interesting how one can become passionate to the point of obsession about something you've never previously given a second thought to?
Take global warming and the insurance industry for example.
Until last April, when twin tornados wrought their destructive and inconvenient fury on the Ryan Library in Leavenworth Kansas (see earlier newsletter), I had paid little attention to the financial, legal and surety problems that can be directly attributed to carbon dioxide.
Thus, I'm proud to announce that after months of delicate negotiation, opulent Japanese hospitality and a loophole in international law, Coathanger has - on behalf of Glen Iris and all Ross Ryan fans - officially signed the Kyoto Protocol.

Not only is this an opportune opportunity for Coathanger to publicly define a perfectly formed carbon footprint - but more importantly - it also solves an enormous fiscal insurance nightmare caused (again inconveniently) by both Australia and the US having failed to sign said treaty. Meanwhile, back to the act ..... |

| Ross to play New Capers - Nov 10th |

A couple of recent gigs have hinted that Ross was planning a return to occasional live performance.
With 'jack-of-most-instruments', Ken Stephenson - he played to a standing room only crowd at the Berwick & District Folk Club; then together they took on a most pleasant lazy Sunday afternoon session at the Mordialloc Sporting Club. |
Now with bassist Roy Zedras added to the line-up, Ross will be performing - Nov 10th - at the New Capers in Hawthorn, Melbourne. His final show for 2007.
Capers is a venue that our touring division has coveted for some time now, so anticipation is high and we're expecting a big night!
So come on down! |
|
Ross, Ken & Roy - take a break from
rehearsals |
Folks further north may be pleased to hear that there is also talk of a potential 2008 'Queensland and Beyond' touring possibility in the near pipeline.
Like they say .. stay tuned.

|
How many
mistakes can
you find? |
|
Ok it's true, there's been a couple-or-more hardly noticeable mistakes found in the packaging of the recent re-release of Ross's legendary 'My Name Means Horse' album.
|
Needless
to say, these miniscule errors in no way mar the magnificent
job done by Aztec Records and in particular
- project producer Ted Lethborg - in
bringing this important album, so lavishly, to the marketplace.
|
But
word was out; and particularly after Lethborg announced
that the Second Edition of 'Horse'
would be error-free - collectors started snapping up
copies of the current First Edition;
the same edition, incidentally, that Coathanger
Merchandising currently has in stock!!

'Lance Rock' publicist extraordinaire
Lou Ridsdale smiles knowingly as Aztec's
Ted removes an entire calamari lunch
from his right ear.
|
|
|
So
to help Ted out, Coathanger is running the 'Hosre
Competition' whereby we're offering a special
and exciting prize to the person who can find
the most mistakes in the packaging of 'Horse
FE'.

| New Coathanger Audio-Video section |
 |
We've got a few new Ross Ryan video treats for you this month - and a new home for them!
Because there are a number of recordings
and clips that our archivists are preparing to put online
over the next few months; we thought it was time for
such items to have their own section.
To kick things off - we have a '74 Paul Hogan Show appearance; a live song from 2004 - plus a recent 5 part Undercover interview with Ross - who also performs two songs. |
It's
currently a work in progress, but check the AV
page often and see what else we have up our sleeves!!

| Jocie (nee Jojo) - new album out now! |
You may know her from Ross's 'One Person Queue' album - that voice on the single 'Cool River' and then lifting the epic 'Only Show In Town'.
But the hot news is that the artist
formerly known as Jojo Leslie has just
launched not only a new name - Jocie
- but a new CD - 'Cosmos'.
Recorded at Medici Studios and produced by long time pal Paul Morgan along with engineer Christian Scallan - this is an album that's long overdue!
Well done Jocie
Person - Coathanger salutes you and looks forward to
hearing the final result!

|
Well
my dears, I'm en route to New York,
where I'll be tidying up a few semi-climate-related
loose ends; as well as doing the usual shopping thing
- before heading back to Melbourne
for Ross's New Capers gig on the 10th.
In the meantime - to celebrate Coathanger's
Kyoto success - I not only treated
myself to a small memento of my stay in Japan, but am
- as we speak - onboard the new Airbus 380 airliner
in one of their private, first class suites. And I have
to tell you - Air Force One aside (hi
Bill!) - this is how you do it!
|
Oh one more
thing - we're about to arrange to make a decision concerning
the track selection for the new, forthcoming RR
compilation CD. So if you have any thoughts
on the matter - now's the time to make your move. Many
thanks to those who have already sent in t heir
lists, raves and rants!
So with a solid broadband connection,
cable TV, a bottle of vintage Moet, plus a gaggle of
cute stewards at my beck and call - this girl's putting
her feet up and signing off until next time.
See ya at the gig!
Cheers,
Connie Person
