Coathanger & EMI Ink Historic Licensing Agreement
September 2006

Ross, EMI Licensing staff and the EMI Board of Directors

After 10 years of delicate diplomacy and Kissingeresque negotiation, EMI Records and Coathanger Productions have signed a licensing agreement, allowing Coathanger to make available Ross's 70s back-catalogue of recordings (see our previous news item).

In attendance at the special Sydney press conference / signing ceremony was Ross, EMI Licensing executives Jonathan Carter, Marianna Annas and Vicky Vogiatzoglou as well as the EMI Board of Directors.

Afterwards at the post-signing party, Ross told reporters that although he has "thoroughly enjoyed not hearing most of this stuff for 30 years"," he was "thrilled" that the two music organisations had reached an agreement.

Ross also took the opportunity to thank EMI Licensing - particularly Jonathan Carter - for their tireless efforts to reach financial, legal, artistic and emotional closure; and for returning his phone calls.

'Excited' ~

Earlier, Coathanger CEO Al DeKlien, appearing by satellite from his home in Milan Italy, told the gathering:

"I am most excited that Coathanger now has the opportunity to re-sell to Ross Ryan fans, the same songs they have already purchased on the original vinyl LPs. It should be very handy."

To kick off with; two re-issued Ross Ryan albums are slated to appear before the end of the year. These will be; a re-tooled compilation CD (currently being workshopped by Coathanger's marketing division) and, through Atzec Records, the classic 'My Name Means Horse' album
