Ryan Endorses Obama - Promotes Compilation

Fort Leavenworth, Kansas (Source: CNS)
October 16 2008

Singer-songwriter Ross Ryan appeared at a rally in Leavenworth, Kansas - Ryan's birthplace - to support US presidential candidate Senator Barack Obama.

Adding his name to a list of singer/writers such as Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen and Barry Manilow, Ryan told the wheat dependant crowd that as a native son of the traditionally Republican voting state of Kansas, he was there to help Obama capture the state's 6 Electoral College votes.

"I stand here tonight" said Ryan, "in the city of my birth; in the land of Dorothy and Superboy's Smallville, to remind the citizens of Leavenworth that not only is this the most important election since the ascension of Lincoln, but crucially, that I am about to release the most difficult compilation of my career".

In his introduction, the Illinois senator said he was "humbled" that the "reclusive Ryan" had traveled all the way from from "Glen Iris" to attend the rally.

"Whenever the toll from campaigning has been more than I can bear" he eloquently continued; "on the verge of withdrawing from this historic race; I have turned to Ross's music - especially my pre-release copy of the 'Difficult Third Compilation' - for strength and inspiration ".

Afterwards, the two men met with representatives of the US music media to unveil the compilation's American release CD cover.
