Oceanic 1PQ Tour 2004

As previously reported, Ross recently enjoyed his first holiday in more than a decade on the Pacific island of Fongafale.

Maybe it was the sun. Maybe it was the lure of lapping crystal clear waters. Maybe it was the noble fishing obsessed people of Fongafale. Maybe he had too few options.

Who knows?

For whatever reasons, it appears that Ross has decided to extend his stay in the South Pacific to the extent that he has been performing throughout the area and has even established there a state-of-the-art recording facility - Fongafale Recorders.

As well as his residency at the Fongafale Kon Tiki Elvis Bar (5 shows a night including the 1am Karaoke session), the Pacific launch of the 'One Person Queue' album was held on Nukufetau Atoll
at the Guano Beach fish market on Oct 28 - a year to the day since the CD was officially released.

The Oceanic launch was a resounding success with Ross making several new fans as he wandered through the market playing material from 1PQ interspersed with some local favourites (mainly songs either about fish, fishing, or weather conditions conducive to fishing).

Special thanks to tribal elder Tuhma Goulann and his wife Kylie who organised the day's events as well as the generous evening fish-fry.

A few days later, the final 2004 'Idol & Idle' concert with Mark Holden was held at the spectacular Le President Royale Luxury Sands Hotel & Casino on Brando Island, Tahiti.

Many guests from around the world had flown in for this special invitation only event hosted by Sandoz Chemicals - a company that Mark, by chance, is a major shareholder.

Admittedly, there have been a few disparaging comments made about the free form nature that an 'Idol & Idle' gig seems to enjoy, but on this night the guys pulled out all the stops and during their encore finale - a medley of Unchained Melody, Bali Ha'i, Smells Like Teen Spirit and Don't Worry Be Happy - they left not a dry eye in the sumptuous Grand Napoleon Diamond Ballroom.

Afterwards Mark, wearing his trademark polo neck jumper and denim jacket, signed autographs for adoring fans whilst Ross packed up the P.A.

Truly a night to remember.
