Gigs, beer & birthday parties. When it comes to performing at private functions, I have a limited but checkered history. My experiences range from the well meaning to the darkly hilarious.
  The basic difference here is that it's not your gig, so you tend to have little control over events. Which is where alcohol comes into its own.
