It's not widely known - that although they rarely see each other, are diametric opposites and essentially have nothing in common - Ross and former teen idol Mark Holden are good friends. For many years Mark has been an avid admirer and supporter of Ross and his music and has, like many of us, wondered why Ross has never had the fame, fortune and strokes (essentially everything that Mark's achieved) that he so rightly deserves.

On the other hand - Ross is pleased that despite everything,
Mark's at least managed to make a buck over the years.

Last year Mark lent his support to Ross's first television appearance in a decade - on the cultural oasis that is "Burke's Backyard". Shortly after that, Mark was sounded out by Channel 9's "This Is Your Life" producers as to whether he would be interested in being "surprised" for the show's season finale. Normally Mark is not the kind of guy who seeks attention in any way but he realised that this was an exposure opportunity for Ross.

At first Mark pushed for a "This Is Their Life" episode but Ross wisely felt that this should be Mark's night alone - but agreed - much to Mark's and Channel 9's delight - to be a guest on the show.

However, despite the Young Doctors excerpts and music clips featuring one huge eyebrow - is was indeed a fine thing that the Great Australian Unwashed had a chance to discover that The Carnation Holden Person is a talented dude and a nice guy to boot.

Shortly after the show was aired, these

Mark & Ross confirm, on national television,
that they're both not carrying swords.
